Introduction to the Major in Marketing
The College was the first educational institution in Greece to offer a business degree with a concentration in Marketing. Marketing as a discipline is a vital and indispensable business activity for all types of organizations, in part because it is a direct revenue generating activity. The Marketing major allows students to understand consumer needs, the design and delivery of goods and services, and the most effective means of informing consumers of their availability in harnessing offline and online/digital activities.
The marketing program aims to fulfill the demand for graduates equipped to cope with contemporary marketing issues and opportunities as employees or business owners, in both local and international contexts. The program seeks to connect theory to practice and to provide students the opportunity to gain as much hands-on experience as possible.
The Marketing program encompasses two pathways: Marketing Management and Marketing Communications.
What You Will Study
Marketing at Deree – The American College of Greece is both evolving and dynamic. Our two pathways adopt an interdisciplinary approach, building on knowledge from many other fields of study such as psychology, philosophy, sociology, economics, and statistics. In addition, students receive a strong business foundation with courses in: Accounting, Finance, Management, Computers, and International Business.
The pathways ensure that all students have opportunities to gain real world experience. In Level 6 Marketing courses, students will develop marketing projects with clients – including international brands, agencies, charities and local industries – to develop professional consulting abilities.
For both the Marketing Management and the Marketing Communications pathway, students build a strong academic marketing background through the following program of studies:
Consumer Behavior: students learn about the factors that affect consumer choices and how consumers make purchasing decisions.
Marketing Management: students learn how to formulate and implement marketing strategies, including product policy, distribution channels, pricing, and the management of integrated marketing programs.
Marketing Research: students gain the necessary marketing research background for decision making and problem solving in business
